Pretty much every Craft Beer brewery has some sort of Pumpkin Spice, Peppermint or Gingerbread beer in their line up to bring our taste buds the Holiday cheer. Brooklyn Brewery: Post Road Pumpkin Ale

  • Not much pumpkin flavor, but a hint of pumpkin spice, including nutmeg and cinnamon
  • Good for a hot fall day
  • Good carbonation, but no head
  • Dry finish
  • Light, clear copper color

 

Dogfish Head: Punkin Ale

  • Smells and tastes like pumpkin pie
  • Nice roasty and malty flavor
  • Rounded and well balanced with a slight bitterness
  • Tastes like I imagine a pumpkin ale should taste
  • Deep golden color with a hint of red, almost orange

 

Whole Hog Steven’s Point Brewery: Pumpkin Ale

  • Very sweet smell and residual sweetness
  • Strong cinnamon taste
  • Tastes like sweet potato and marshmallow casserole
  • Deep, cloudy copper color
  • Bourbon-barrel aged 

 

Clown Shoes: Pecan Pie Porter

  • Tastes like Pecan flavored coffee
  • Smells like dark chocolate and roasted barley
  • Nice mouth feel and deep dark color
  • Full bodied with a hint of bitterness, like unsweetened coffee
  • You almost want to put whipped cream on top and eat it with a spoon!
  • Dark brown color with a nice tan head

 

 

Boulevard Brewing Co: Funky Pumpkin Spiced Sour

  • Smells metallic, a hint of sour apple with cinnamon
  • Not much pumpkin flavor/aroma, more apple cinnamon
  • Not much bite for a sour
  • Light, clear golden color with a hint of rosé
  • OK carbonation

Shiner Beer: Holiday Cheer Ale

  • Brewed with peaches and pecan
  • Dark red-brown color
  • Head does not stay, ok carbonation
  • Strong peach aroma, sweet sour taste
  • Very drinkable, light, not very malty
  • Supposedly a Bavarian-Style Dark Wheat, but I don’t get this at all

 

Breckenridge Brewery: Pumpkin Spice Latte Nitro Stout (Can)

  • Deep dark brown color with a tan head
  • Nitro poured into the first glass only, no head in the other glasses
  • Metallic smell, strong coffee aroma
  • Coffee taste, but not bitter
  • Vanilla flavor mixed with pleasant Pumpkin flavor, almost like a pumpkin cheesecake

 

 

New Belgium: Citradelic Tangerine IPA

  • Fruity hops aroma with a bitter ending
  • Nice head and good carbonation]
  • Golden, orange color and a bit cloudy
  • Juicy, tropical citrus flavors with a strong bitterness and a hint of sweetness
  • Reminds me a little bit of Fanta
  • Perfect, if you celebrate the holidays in a hot climate or are tired of the cinnamon-y/pumpkin flavor profile

 

St Arnold Brewing Co: Ye Olde Christmas Ale

  • Nice head, stays for a bit creamy, small bubbles
  • Dark copper color, hazy
  • Nice, full aroma with some spice
  • Full bodied beer, nice balance between hops and malts, a hint of caramel sweetness

 

Alamo Beer Company: Holiday IPA

  • Floral, citrus aroma
  • Red, golden color
  • Crisp and clear
  • Nice head and carbonation
  • A mouth-filling bitterness that stays
  • Well balanced malt with a bitey hops character that has some piney notes
